We have now completed building the online Book Ordering System for the Gloucestershire College Libraries. The web-based system allows teaching staff to order library books for their students and track the progress of the orders, increasing accessibility to college resources and improving inter-departmental communication processes. The system took 2 months of production and is one of the most advanced systems ever programmed by Prosper.

After gaining many more clients this year, Prosper is looking to expand its server architecture. We will be moving from Linux Servers to Windows Server 2003. After examination of recent changes in the market we have decided to use ASP.NET framework 2.0.

Commencing 23rd July, we are creating an online Book Ordering System web application for the Gloucestershire College libraries. The system is planned to be in development for one month, ready for completion for the new academic year in September. BOS is an online management system for library-resource ordering, with the following main purposes:

  • To enable all academic staff to request the purchase of library resources online and check the progress/status of their order
  • To enable the effective and efficient management of the library resource-ordering process by library staff
  • To enable the financial management of the library resource-ordering budget by both library staff and Directors of Centres
